Relationship thrives best where there are no expectations amongst partners from each other, the partners are ready to sacrifice anything up to any extent if required without having any expectations

A short story on meaning of true relationship

A family including husband wife & their small daughter were driving in a car on a highroad as they were going to their friends house for attending some get together.

While driving they come across a little boy selling some eatables & fresh fruit juices on a road side cart.

Their daughter sees the cart and asks for some fresh fruit juice to drink. They decide to buy from the little boy so the daughter's mother asks the boy for price of glass of juice he was selling.

The boy quoted rupee fifty for a glass of fresh fruit juice. On hearing this this girl’s mother kept bargaining for a lesser price since she felt that the price the boy was quoting was little high.

The boy did not agree to her demand for selling at a lesser price as he mentioned that it was only five rupees he was going to save on each glass of juice.

On seeing the rigid stand of the boy not agreeing to sell at a lower price the girl’s mother jokingly remarked that oh my daughter is like your sister so you want caring enough to offer less price to his sister.

On hearing this little boy selling juice readily offered a glass full of fresh juice to the girl sitting inside the car but unfortunately the glass slipped from her hand and it all spilled. The boy went running to his cart and quickly brought another glass of juice.

The girl’s mother on seeing this got little apprehensive since she felt that the boy will now demand price of two glasses of juice.

So she proactively said that I will pay only for one glass of juice as it was not their mistake due to which the earlier glass of juice had slipped away.

The boy on hearing this smilingly requested that I don’t need the money for even one glass of juice since it was for her sister that he had given the glass of juice.

As per his understanding about value of relations he quoted “IN ANY GENUINE RELATIONSHIP ONE SHOULD NOT BOTHER ABOUT GAIN OR LOSS”.

Impact of the boys words on meaning of true relationship on girls father

The little girl’s father who was driving the car was watching all this interaction silently but very seriously that how her wife was trying to convince the little boy for charging less rate for juice and what had the little poor boy finally replied to his wife while refusing to take any money showing his respect for the brother sister relations. All this very deeply impressed the father to the extent that he immediately related this conversation and the highly important message hidden deep inside the emotions of the little boy selling juices that “IN ANY GENUINE RELATIONSHIP ONE SHOULD NOT BOTHER ABOUT GAIN OR LOSS”

The husband was stirred emotionally and he from the car itself called his sister with whom he was having some financial dispute for past decade and said sorry for the entire Impasse that got created due to his approach. His sister was also very happy on suddenly seeing this transformation in her brother’s attitude and invited her to come with family for happy & positive moments ahead.
