Staying active & positive in old age

Facing problems of ageing with grace, to live a normal life full of happiness & joy as age catches up is extremely important for everyone. This can not be achieved overnight and needs regular habit formations to mold ones personality accordingly.

Ignoring our health & fitness when young

We normally tend to simply ignore the problems of old age when we are young and busy we have no time to think anything else apart from wealth creation and unending growth as if we are here to live for thousand of years we increasingly fail to recognize our limited time span that god has made available to us as a human being. If used wisely this limited life span can be of great use and Impact considering the creativity skills we as human beings are blessed with and this is what mother nature Intended for human beings in a life span of averaging around 80 to 90 years approximately.

Accumulated wealth is of no use in old age

When we turn old we have to keep thinking about how to make use of this accumulated wealth for which we had madly worked day and night during our young age ignoring our health and well being.

Need to live in present

Life is a big illusion as all of us don’t know the technique for living in the present all we do is to postpone making use of this beautiful life to future days when we will be free and assume to have enough time to relax and enjoy life.

This tendency keep on haunting us throughout our prime years and then all of a sudden we wake up to find that we are finally getting old, our body parts are not supporting a normal life anymore as we feel as if struggling to lead a normal life with each passing day.

Time never returns back

We fail to understand that if we don't spare enough time in our present young age to care a bit for our over all mental & physical health it will become far too difficult to make the corrections as we finally turn old.

In fact if we care little for our well being in our young age the sufferings of old age might not trouble us as we shall be able to maintain good health and lead a normal life during our later years of life.

Good physical fitness is important to enjoy old age

It is true that with onset of old age we start attaining wisdom. since we are embodied therefore in order to make a proper use of this attained wisdom we need to have good physical health also.

Since it is only by maintaining good health can one really fee connected to ones body in a safe manner and can have increased ability to be in their body in present moment and fee all the sensations like emotional and physical in a effective manner

Plato's view on old age

As In view of Plato old age is about freedom from earthly desires which keep distracting human beings form leading a truthful good life.

Plato's idea of old age rises from his views about wisdom based on his theory of forms. Form are immaterial & timeless entities that exist in realm only accessible to us in our current state through our very intellect.

Lessons for old age from the doctrine of recollection

As per the doctrine of recollection all of us existed prior to be born as immaterial souls as we were not present in the physical world we existed in intelligible realm amongst different forms. Once we are embodied then we start gaining wisdom as we age.

Exercising regularly is helpful in old age

Inculcating regular habits of exercising which must always be of moderate nature along with other enriching hobbies like gardening, photography , playing some outdoor game like golf can also keep a person active in their old age.
